Jason's Story

Early Years
Born on December 11, 1980, in Deland, Florida, Voelz grew up with his mother and younger brother, Shane. Voelz family relocated to Dallas TX when he was in the 4th grade, where he began to develop his leadership skills and passion for service. During high school, he was elected as the American Sign Language (ASL) President, a role in which he spearheaded fundraising initiatives, promoted deaf awareness, and advocated for education in American Sign Language. Excelling both academically and athletically, he was a standout football player, earning recognition as 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-Area as a middle linebacker.

Law Enforcement
After leaving the military, Jason Voelz continued his commitment to public service by joining the Denton County Sheriff's Office as a correctional officer. His exemplary performance led to his recruitment by the Garland Police Department, where he served as a patrol officer. During his tenure, he received one of the highest honors, being formally recognized by the Texas House of Representatives for his outstanding service to the community.
Two weeks after graduating high school, Voelz embarked on a life of service by enlisting in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas (now Fort Cavazos). While stationed at Fort Hood, he pursued higher education at Central Texas Community College and quickly rose through the ranks, achieving the rank of Sergeant in just 22 months—a testament to his dedication and leadership.
